My hair has grown!

It's been 9 days and my hair has grown from a number one to a number 2 :) I thought it would be super soft but I was wrong! My hair is naturally curly so it's feeling a little bit wiry which isn't very nice...however give it another week and I'm sure it will be past that phase!

Has having short hair given me 'balls'

I have always wanted to get a picture with my rugby teams flag around me. I decided that was it, I'm doing it! You only live once right? I love the Stormers!

With pictures comes reality

Today I was lucky enough to have a full on photoshoot with the brilliant Louann Waters.

The first set of pictures we did were natural. So very little make-up and no earrings. As gorgeous as these pictures are it hit me that without the bold eye liner and earrings...I look like a boy. I did a small amount of modeling a few years back, after the shoot today you realize how much, as a woman, you rely on your locks. Short or long, your hair is your security blanket-I'm really not used to seeing pictures of myself with my scalp showing! 

But...have you seen the pictures? They are beautiful! Louann captured me in such a way I was even surprised! After doing the shavathon I take my hat off to the woman who do this often.

First night out...

I was feeling a bit shy going out at night for the first time. I wasn't sure how people would react, especially those who didn't know why I did this.

I had been there 10 minutes and was standing at the bar waiting for a drink, when I hear a gentleman behind me clear his throat. I looked back to see an elderly chap staring at me with this smile, the smile that says 'I'm about to hit on you'. Normally I'm not good at handling people who have had a few to drink and want to now try pick me up, however I wasn't sure who he was and, if, maybe he wasn't giving me that crooked smile to pick me up but to rather say well done. 

So I waited, then he said...'Aren't you gorgeous' I felt embarrassed until he followed it with his next line...'I can imagine a whole lot of wigs I can use on you' he said this in a deep husky type of voice...at this point I was a bit freaked out, because who says this? A note to all men...don't say that. It makes you sound like a serial killer. I didn't know what to say...I looked back at the bar hoping my drink was ready...it wasn't...'Yessss, all sorts of wigs. Just think when I get bored with you I'll just change your wig' creepy smile again. He was pretty much looking at me fantasizing about what wigs he was going to use on me. It may not sound weird but when you match that with a 'I'm trying to be sexy' voice you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Looking at the positive side of this, I was hit on my first night out...even though it was really awkward.

Hopefully it gets better from here...

How I slept my first night

Having long hair all my life my head has been kept protected and warm. My hair is very thick so now that I have none I'm more susceptible to the cold. Even if there is a slight breeze I can feel it, on Sunday I kept getting 'ice-cream headaches'. My head was also very sensitive so I was relieved when people weren't rubbing it all the time - even stepping into the shower it was a bit much.

Sleeping - well this was very interesting. My head was freezing! I wrapped it up nice and warm in a throw that was on my bed. Thank goodness it was just a one night thing - I'm finally used to sleeping with a spiky head :) 

How did my dog react to the hair? She didn't bat an eyelid at the change  - I don't even know if she notices it.

My nieces love it! Lucy even wants her hair short now....sorry Claire
